OUR STORY RIKKI LEIGH & TRISTAN HERTZ
Rikki Leigh & Tristan Hertz are aspiring young artists offering gifts for you-from the earth and from the stars-made from our heart-translated through art. In 2007 they started TreesanArt Productions offering many items from oil paintings to terrariums, mixed media, photography, comics, illustrations or anything else you can dream. TreesanArt Productions also has plans to expand. With help from people like you, we will become all that we can dream. Both studied at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul Minnesota. They currently work and play in Asheville, North Carolina.
Our art is the Foundation of all our products. Art is for our heart, we create visions of beauty. There is a world of beauty and color intertwined with our world, sometimes visible, sometimes hidden. This world is where we paint and recreate, separate from time, spinning in light and swimming in color. Our paintings are bridges and doorways to different perceptions. Art is often inevitably autobiographical. We all have a unique story and each painting is a piece of that story. We love the earth and want it to grow well. As artist’s we are environmentally minded. The terrariums are a way to physically interact with the earth. It’s like taking your favorite cove, park, or part of the forest home with you to put right on your window sill. Our terrariums are living landscapes and 3D sculptures, each design and arrangement unique. The terrariums teach us how to grow things better and influence our paintings as well.
We like to bring the beauty of the forest inside, and are inspired by the earth, and the wonderful mountain environment we live in. The love for nature and feeling at home their as a child, influences our work today. We recycle and reuse as much as we can. About 90 percent of our jars are recycled or second hand, this also helps keep the cost down for the consumer. “I began making art because my head is filled with beautiful visions; these visions are what keep me going. I want to share this because it is my belief they will help you too, inspire you to keep going as well.” We our influenced by abstract expressionism, surrealism, art novae, contemporary art, photography, sculpture, comic books and illustration, which can be reflected in some of our art work. In our art work, we like to find the natural beauty in things and reflect that, as in the wood paintings. Leaving some of the natural grain is preserving that beauty. Remembering as a child making shapes or objects out of the clouds, it’s just like seeing more then what’s there.
